How to get most value out of a 1on1 coaching session 1 Lectures


Over the past years, I have done personal coaching with a variety of (BOD level) leaders. I love supporting the people that can make the difference in a transformation. I'm a good listener and developed a habit of asking the right questions. While most coaches stay away from 'advice', I believe sometimes leaders need a push in a certain direction. 

What makes me a good coach is: I'm a leader myself. I am an entrepreneur and 'starting new things', innovating and helping others transform (their companies) is what gets me out of bed. 

This is what I believe in and live by (thanks to Derek Sivers for the perfect phrasing):

Never forget why you're really doing what you're doing. Are you helping people? Are they happy? Are you happy? Are you profitable? Isn't that enough?

In the end, it's about what you want to be, not what you want to have. To have something (a finished recording, a business, a million dollars) is the means, not the end. To be something (a good singer, a skilled entrepreneur or just plain happy) is the real point.

When you sign up to run a marathon, you don't take a taxi to the finish line.

No matter what goal you choose, there will be lots of people telling you you're wrong. Just pay close attention to what excites you and what drains you. Pay close attention to when you're being the real you and when you're trying to impress an invisible jury.

These are my 3 strength statements:

  1. I feel strong when I can put ideas into action together with others, either as a new venture or as a pattern of continuous improvement.
  2. I feel strong when I can implement structure and change in our own organization or in other people’s organization. 
  3. I feel strong when I have open dialogues to understand the other persons’ drive, purpose and problems, and to align them with my purpose.

The 1on1 coaching sessions help you process what you have learned in the course or in practice. This package contains 3 hours of coaching, which can be used according to your preference, in sessions of 30 to 60 minutes. See the syllabus above for more details.

Agile entrepreneur
Hugo Messer has been building companies since a young age. He's always believed in the power of entrepreneurship. He's used his entrepreneurial power to build his own companies Bridge and Ekipa. Hugo is currently living in Bali. After moving to Bali he thought he could enjoy 'holiday every day'. But doing nothing makes one sleepy, so he decided to grow Ekipa to help Indonesia become more agile and innovative.
